Bellevue United FC (BUFC) and Mercer Island FC (MIFC) are proud to announce the promotion of Radcliffe McDougald to Director of XL Soccer, marking an exciting new chapter for the program.

What began over four years ago as a joint initiative between BUFC and MIFC has grown into a premier development pathway for youth players seeking top-level competitive soccer in Bellevue and Mercer Island.

“It’s an honor to lead a program like XL, which has become something truly special for both players and families,” said McDougald. “Built on a foundation of community, commitment, and player development within a strong team environment, XL is more than just competitive soccer — it’s a platform where players are challenged to grow, think, and compete, while staying grounded in values that reach far beyond the game. My goal is to create an environment where every player has a clear pathway, purposeful coaching, and the support they need to reach their full potential — both on and off the field.”

A lifelong local, Radcliffe grew up on Mercer Island, playing for both local and premier clubs before competing at Concordia University. After his playing career, he returned home and has spent the past decade coaching in Bellevue and Mercer Island, developing young players and mentoring coaches. In his role as Girls Director for both clubs, Radcliffe has led initiatives in player development, coaching mentorship, and academy-style training.

In his new role as Director of XL Soccer, Radcliffe will oversee team formation, coaching standards, player development, and program operations, ensuring unified excellence across both clubs.

“Radcliffe’s leadership makes him the perfect person to guide XL’s future,” said Kyle Sprecher of BUFC. “This program is essential for families in Bellevue and Mercer Island.”

“XL has always been about creating opportunities for players,” added Morgan Shook of MIFC. “Radcliffe’s leadership will ensure XL remains a cornerstone for our soccer families.”

This appointment represents a defining moment for XL Soccer, as BUFC and MIFC continue their shared commitment to providing the best soccer experience for local athletes and families. Radcliffe will also continue in his role as Girls Director, further strengthening the pathway for girls’ player development in both communities.
