What Is Recreational Soccer?

Recreational soccer is for players who like and love the game, but do not want the extra level of commitment required of the more competitive programs. It starts at U8, and progresses all the way until U19, allowing players to fully experience a complete soccer career in their community at their own desires. A program that is founded upon the key values of Fun, Inclusion, Respect, and used as a tool to give young people skills for life!

When is Registration?

Registration for Fall 2025 opens in April 1, 2025.

The cost for Fall Recreational soccer is $300.

Ages

Recreational soccer is for U8 through U18, typically 2nd through 12th grade. See the MIFC Age Chart for a guide to soccer opportunities at each birth age.

Season & Time Commitment

The Recreational soccer season starts the first weekend of September after Labor Day and runs through mid-November. Recreational teams will practice twice a week. Games are typically held on Saturdays on Mercer Island and the Eastside. However, U14 and older boys and U15 and older girls typically play Sundays due to field availability. For U11 and older there is an opportunity to play in the Washington Youth Soccer Rec Cup.

Uniforms

All Recreational players receive an official MIFC game jersey included in the registration fee and to be handed out by their coach at one of their first practices.

Parents are responsible for the following additional equipment:

  • Shin guards (all kids MUST have shin guards to play)
  • Black socks
  • Black shorts
  • Shoes. Cleats are highly recommended for better grip on the field.
