Select Program Overview
The MIFC Select program is designed for players who love the game, but also want to maintain a balance to pursue school extracurricular activities, and be multi-sport athletes, while still pushing themselves to be competitive and develop as players and people. The Select program provides the opportunity to represent the MI community in locally-based leagues while continuing to pursue athletic achievement and growth.
Commitment Level + Club Expectations & MIFC Promise
-
Tryouts: May (U16-U19 boys in late February).
-
Practices: Start in June, twice a week, with summer friendlies and tournaments.
-
Fall Season: Runs from early September to early December, featuring about twelve games.
-
State Cups: January to early February.
-
Spring Season: Optional for boys and not included in fees; U15-U18 girls play from December to March to avoid high school conflicts.
While MIFC Select players are able to have more flexibility in their activities across a year, players are expected to commit to all practices and games unless discussed with the coach. Soccer should be prioritized in the fall/winter months as the primary sport. Families should be prepared for multiple summer tournaments. Parent involvement is greater than in Recreational teams, with each requiring a team manager, treasurer, and referee-in-pool.
